Online poll: a quick vote on anything
Ask a question, add the options and share the link. People vote in a few seconds, and the results update live. Use it for a straw poll in a group chat, an image contest, or a vote among your members.
How it works
- Write the question and the options. An option can have a picture and a note, so an image poll is as easy as a text one.
- Choose how people vote (see below) and who can see the results.
- Share the link, show a QR code, or put the poll on a screen in presentation mode, where people join with a six-digit code.
- Watch the results come in live, with the leading option highlighted.
Ways to vote
- One choice: the classic poll; each person picks one option.
- Several choices: approval voting, where people pick every option they like. You can set a minimum and a maximum.
- Yes / maybe / no for each: an opinion on every option, for when you want to know how people feel about each of them.
- "Other": participants can write their own answer next to your options.
When the order of preference matters, ranked-choice voting is fairer; for marks out of five or ten, use a rating poll.
Fair voting
You choose how often a person can vote: once per browser, once per internet address (which also stops a second browser), once per PollIt account, or only through a personal invitation link. A password keeps the poll private, and an "I am not a robot" check keeps scripts out.
Names can be public, hidden from everyone but you, or left out for an anonymous vote. The results can be visible at any time, only after voting, only once the poll has closed, or only to you.
Results
The results show how many votes each option has, who voted for what (when names are public) and the answers written under "Other". You can close the poll, announce the winner, and export all votes to a spreadsheet (CSV) or JSON, or print them.
Ideas boards and image polls
Let participants add options and the poll becomes an ideas board or a Q&A, where everyone adds suggestions and votes for the ones they like. Add a picture to each option for a photo contest, or to choose a logo, a T-shirt or a holiday flat. Shuffle the options so that the first one has no advantage.
